I don’t know about you, but the way I was taught to clean a home has gone out the window. For the past couple of decades, I relied on deep cleaning and making sure I passed the white glove test from my extended family members. And I have also evolved and learned how to do it all faster and better.

Future Homemakers Are Simple
Let’s start with the fact that there is no gender assignment here. You can be anyone. My own father-in-law prefers to work less and clean more, while my mother-in-law prefers to work more if it means not lifting a finger around the house.
Gone are the days where we have to appear perfect. For those of you who are, we’ve caught on. No one is perfect and we all have a home that looks lived in from time to time. When a random guest knocks on our door, we invite them in where they’ll find tufts of dog hair, a plate and silver ware in the kitchen sink, and possibly our toddler’s chunky toothpaste they didn’t quite brush well with in the bathroom sink.
Why should we hide the fact that we’re all busy, we’re all doing our best, and we’re all living? The future is not fake with unnecessary pressure to be tidy 100% of the time.
What I’m About
I am a blogger with a passion to change how we define homemaking and that includes home decorating. It has taken me years to learn how to accept myself for where I am in how I feel about my home. Rather than focusing on it being a measure of my financial status or hygiene (weird), I keep my mind on making sure my spaces are:
- Functional
- Cozy
- Full of things I love and use
- And super easy to keep maintained
